“We are close to the tipping point where global warming becomes irreversible,” Hawking told BBC News in July. “Climate change is one of the great dangers we face, and it’s one we can prevent if we act now”. To solve this he argued that world leaders would need to stick to the rules laid out by the Paris Agreement. According to Hawking, we aren’t at doomsday yet but it’s up to our actions to keep it that way.
There were many reasons proposed by Stephen Hawking for the end of the world like:
1. A smooth exit from eternal inflation
According to thought, Inflation theory brings together ideas from quantum physics and particle physics to explore the early moments of the universe. According to this theory, the universe was created in an unstable energy state, which forced it into a rapid expansion in its early moments.
One consequence is that the universe is bigger than anticipated, and larger than the size that we can observe with our telescopes.
Another consequence is that the theory predicts some traits like the uniform distribution of energy, which was not explained by the big bang theory.
Hawking predicted that our Universe eventually will fall into the darkness as all the stars run out of energy and he wants that we desperately need to get to other universes as soon as possible if we want to survive. Consequences of living on other planets
2. Earth will combust into a ball of fire
He also predicted that our planet will burst into flames in less than 500 years or so. As by that time earth would be overpopulated that our energy consumption would turn into a fireball and the human race will perish. Also, global warming would make conditions similar to venus. The average temperature would be around 480 degrees Fahrenheit and speedy winds of 330 feet per second. Therefore, Climate change is one of the greatest threats we will face if don’t act today for it.
Do we have a solution to this?
According to Hawking, we need to find another planet to live on. Otherwise, we will die as Earth is already reaching its end. To save ourselves from the problems, we need to find a new world. Most of the options available to us are;
The moon, as it has no atmosphere and it is closest celestial object closest to our planet and has immense deposits of natural resources. But the moon has extreme seismic activity and rare moonquakes that can measure up to 5.1 on the Richter scale.
Mars has its toxic soil, bone-crushing cold and unbreathable atmosphere which can’t be our ideal home. But as an approach to build well-protected space bases might help us.
Ceres is a dwarf planet in the Asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. It is believed that it could be composed of 25% water but it lacks the atmosphere.
Jupiter’s moon, Europa is covered with icy layers that could hold entire ocean covers. But it gets deadly radiation that the human body cannot tolerate and the temperature makes it unbearably cold.
Earth’s cousin Kepler 452b which orbits like a star 1400 light years away from Earth and look exactly like our planet. But Volcanic activity is the other big problem.
He once said that “We are running out of space, and the only place we can go to are other worlds. It is time to explore other solar systems. Spreading out may be the only thing that saves us from ourselves.”
